Association of Mothers and Friends of Children and Adolescents at Risk – Amar – RS

Amar aims to promote and ensure, with absolute priority, the realization of human rights and full protection of children and adolescents at risk.

As a result of the outrage of mothers of children and adolescents deprived of their liberty in the units of Fase – Socio-Educational Care Foundation, the organization’s main objective is to increase the chances of reintegration of youth into society and reduce recidivism rates in offences.

Amar faces many obstacles to the implementation of their activities. During the year 2010, the president of Amar was even forbidden to talk to the relatives of detained adolescents while queuing for the visits in each unit.

The Project

The project aims to contribute to expanding access to justice for the families and adolescents deprived of their liberty in the units of Fase-RS.

The strategy is to bring families and teenagers safe and correct information on the rights of adolescents in conflict with the law, as well as to ensure that the demands of the relatives in cases of possible violations are formally submitted to the Direction of Fase, the State Public Prosecutor’s Office and/or the Judiciary.
