Another initiative has been considered by the Fund in the scope of its 2012 Call for Proposals. The project, “In rights and in struggle: this land is faxinalense,” from the Faxinal Salso Community Association of Paraná, looks to hold training activities on human rights with a focus on the defense of their traditional way of life and territories belonging to the faxinalenses.
Typical of Paraná, the faxinais are systems organized around collective use of the land, with the creation of community pastures, which have become threatened by the expansion of agro-business.
It was the partnership between the Brazil Fund and Itaipu Binacional that made possible this support of the faxinalenses. More information can be found HERE. With this project, the Fund reached the mark of 176 initiatives supported since its first round of proposals.
