Objetivos e público alvo
Establish adequate social control over the Consortium Santa Quiteria, an agreement between the public company Nuclear Industries of Brazil (INB), the private company Galvani Industry, Trade and Service SA and the state government for nuclear power generation and fertilizer production. Through an advocacy campaign, the project aims at making visible and, at the same time, affecting the social and environmental impacts that Santa Quiteria mining activities will bring to the region in order to ensure that the rural populations who will be directly affected by it are able to preserve their way of life and traditional work and develop sustainably.
Atividades Principais

Contexto
The hinterlands central region of Ceará has a history of land concentration, a situation that started changing after MST (the landless movement) and some rural unions started to occupy land, mostly after the 1990s. Since then, communities and rural settlements are fighting for access to land and water. The strengthening of this way of life is threatened by the probable installation and operation of the Santa Quiteria project, an industrial complex that aims at producing uranium and phosphate in Santa Quitéria. Mining, in other territories, has shown to bring different social, environmental and health-related problems, such as changes in the traditional system of the use and occupation of the territory, mass migration of workers, burden public services, increase violence and the use and trafficking of drugs, contamination of water and soil and increasing cancer rates.
Sobre a Organização
The mission of the Antinuclear Articulation is to contribute to the prominence of rural communities that may be affected by uranium and phosphate mining in Ceará. It gathers the rural communities that are directly affected by these activities.
