Paraná State Association of Rural Women Workers
Exposing violence and breaking the silence from the perspective of building new gender and class relations
Paraná
Objetivos e público prioritário
The project’s goal is to organize rural women workers in São Mateus do Sul, in Paraná, offering them political training, so that they can report the domestic violence suffered by many and seek legal punishment of the perpetrators – especially when the violence is psychological, and not only physical.
The idea is to deepen the values and constraints inherited from our culture and passed on from mother to daughter, demystifying the issue that violence and values can and should be changed.
About the organization
AMTR’s mission is to free women workers from all forms of oppression and discrimination. This becomes concrete in the struggles, organization, training and implementation of popular resistance experiences, in which women are the protagonists of their history, as peasants, feminists, revolutionaries, and women as whole beings.
Among the activities already undertaken by the organization are the search for the right of access to public health; the permanent campaign for rural workers’ documentation; the project Peasant Agriculture from a Feminist Perspective, under the axes of environment, work, social relations, public policies, peasant and feminist culture, and valuing and participation of women.
Moreover, the group conducts basic work focused on rescuing the fields that produce vegetables, greens, flowers, medicinal plants, causing families to spend less on food and medicine. There is also an activity with women and their families for the restoration and preservation of water sources.
