Objetivos e público prioritário
To strengthen and improve the technical quality of popular legal assistance offered by Najurp to community groups and social movements, along with holding legal training, proposing and accompanying collective and individual lawsuits in the area of human rights.
Main activities
– Legal assistance and accompaniment of emblematic cases;
– Appeal to the public authorities to provide clarifications and access to information on the process of “defavela-ization” of the João Pessoa Community, the impacts of the airport expansion project and the possibilities for inclusion of residence programs in projects already underway;
– Accompaniment and legal assistance for cooperatives of recycled materials collectors;
– Legal referrals of emblematic cases of obstetric violence.
About the organization
The Popular Legal Assistance Center of Ribeirão Preto (Najurp) had its beginning in August, 2011 and seeks to develop and coordinate actions related to the extension, education and research of issues in Human Rights, Education and Citizenship at FDRP/USP, with a special emphasis on popular legal assistance to communitarian groups and social movements in the Ribeirão Preto region of the state of São Paulo.
